The Occupation Permit - HELLOJOB
THE "OCCUPATION PERMIT" :
The "Occupation permit" is a single permit including both the work and residence permit. It concerns only four categories of people : employees
(professionals), foreign investors, entrepreneurs in their own name and some foreign retired over 50 years.
Investor :
- A minimum investment of 100,000 US dollars (82,645 euros or Rs 3,223,000).
- A turnover of more than 4 million rupees (about 102,565 euros for 1 euro = Rs 39 or 124,320 US dollars) per year.
Entrepreneur (Self-Employed) :
- Person working on his own in the service sector.
- An initial investment of a minimum of 35,000 US dollars (28,875 euros or Rs 1,126,125).
- A minimum revenue of Rs 600,000 (15,385 euros or 18,648 US dollars).
Wage Earner (Professional) :
- The minimum wage should be over Rs 45,000 per month. As for the development of the technology sector, the basic
salary of employees working in the ICT sector must go beyond just Rs 30,000 monthly.
- The employee must have experience and specific professional skills to justify hiring an expatriate (lasting more than 3 years).
Retired :
- The person must have transferred to his bank account in Mauritius at least 40,000 US dollars per year (33,000 euros or Rs 1,287,000).
The "occupation permit" / residence permit is granted for a maximum time of three years.
It can be renewed based on certain conditions.
In addition, holders of the "occupation permit" / residence permit may acquire, from the date of issue of the license,
an apartment in a building with a ground floor and at least 2 floors under certain conditions.
The dependents of the occupation permit holders (spouse and children up to the age of 24) are also eligible for a residence permit.
